LEAGUE FUNDRAISING

Fundraising is a wonderful way to ease the financial burden of our organization, enabling us to provide the necessary materials it takes for a wonderful baseball/softball experience for you and your children. Though the registration fee helps, it in NO way eases the financial responsibilities our organization (YOUR organization) has to the children of this league. 


Aside from the cost that comes from just maintaining Sawmill Park, we would like to see several improvements made over the next few years.  These improvements however, come with a hefty price tag.  Our way of helping to ease that financial burden (and hopefully raise enough money to outright pay for certain things) is through our many fundraising programs.  We need YOU (the parents) to join with us in this very important effort.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’s)

When are your practices and games scheduled?

This is a question we often get asked and is difficult to answer.  Coaches do not get their practice field assignments until after the Player Draft in early March.  Most coaches tend to practice about twice a week.  Practices begin after Field Clean-Up in mid-March.  Teams practice during the week or on Saturdays.  Most coaches will begin practices at around 6:00 PM during the week, some sooner especially in the beginning.  Please strive to have your child attend as many practices as possible, so they can get ready for the season.  If you’re running late or can’t make a certain practice, please notify the coach.  Good communication is the foundation of a fun and successful season.

Games begin on Opening Day in mid-April and continue for approximately 8 weeks until mid-June.  Games typically start 6:00 PM during the week.  Teams usually play twice a week.  We don’t know the days until the schedule is published.  It is important to come to as many games as possible.  If your child will miss a game due to other family obligations, please notify the coach, so they adjust their lineup accordingly.  Remember, everyone gets to play, so the coach needs to know who is going to participate in a given game.


 
 

 
Background Check Program
"The purpose of the Department of Recreation and Parks’ Background Check Program is to ensure that
every individual who interacts with children undergoes a criminal history records check. The objective of
the Background Check Program is to provide parents with peace of mind knowing their children are
provided a safe and positive experience."

The above paragraph is quoted directly from the County website.  Glen Burnie Baseball & Softball adheres to the letter and spirit of this important program.  Background checks are good for three (3) years and cost only $9.00 (the County heavily subsidizes the expense).  You may either print off and mail in the completed form along with your check - or - submit your background request online using a credit card (recommended).

Glen Burnie Baseball and Softball is providing coaches, friends, and family with an opportunity to get stats sent to their phone via text message as they are added throughout league play. Sign up to get game scores and pitching statistics sent right to your phone by clicking here.
We've enhanced our league services to help make your participation in our event more interactive and enjoyable. 

You can sign up for messaging to keep up with pitching records and scores of games you can't attend.  Your family and friends at home can also keep up with your results.

Of course, we'll be posting the scores online ASAP and will show the standings and tie-breakers as the league progresses.
